Book Reviews from Investigate Some Good Books participants
For Women Only by Shaunti Feldhahn: Wow! helped me understand the men in my life!
How to clean your home fast by Vicki Christian: Wonderful--helpful cleaning tips!
Sex Chronicles II by Zane: Sexual content.
Simple Stories by Langston Hughes: Reader Ossie Davis delightfully narrates conversations with an older black man. His philosophies and memories will leave you with not only a smile, but a greater understanding of how racial intolerance affected his attitude.
Can't wait to get to heaven by Fannie Flagg: This novel was a very easy read. It was well written. From the start to finish this story flew by. I will read more of Fannie Flagg's novels.
Serpent by Clive Cussler: I totaly enjoyed this novel. It's Cussler at his best. I like the setup stories in all his novels. And if you like the NUMA gangs you'll like this one. All 8 characters are here.
Sea Hunters II by Clive Cussler: I've read almost all Cussler's books. This book is not one of his best. It is interesting in that you find out a lot about Cussler and his NUMA Company. If you're a fan, you should read these stories.
A Lady of High Regard by Tracie Peterson: An excellent read. Clean romance plus mystery and historical fiction set in Philadelphia.
Woman in Red by Eileen Goudge: Very delicate subject. Very interesting read. Her books are always good reads.
Native Tongue by Carl Hiaasen: Wonderful summer read--light, fast paced, funny and yet with important messages for all of us concerning awareness of and need to care for our environment.
Kids are worth it! by Barbara Coloroso: This is a book that gives advice on parenting. The author gives her point of view on punishment verses rewards, and covers all ages of children. She had some ideas I had not heard of before. Take what works best for you--and leave the rest.
Leni by Steven Bach: Great new book about Leni Riefenstahl, photographer for and during Nazi regime of WWII. The better book of the two new ones I've read.
I heard that song before by Mary Higgins Clark: Ever since I read MHC's first book, "Where are the children?", I've been hooked on her novels. This book keeps you guessing who's the killer until the end. I read it in a days time.
Firestarter by Stephen King: Andy McGee was a participant in a scientific program and as a result he developed special powers. When he married another volunteer in the program they gave birth to a child who was able to start fires by simply thinking about them. Things get hectic when the government wanted her for experiments. Andy McGee fled with his daughter. This was a story about the chase.
Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks by Frommer's: This definetely helped guide our travels through these great parks and helped tip us off to the best attractions and restaurants.
