Book Reviews from Investigate Some Good Books participants
Pound of Flesh by Susan Wright: A fantasy come to life, full of thrilling adventure and sensual delight. A tale of freedom found from the world and from within.
Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie: Cute, fun, a bit too mushy for me but recommended if you like romantic comedies.
Odditude by John Powers: A little different from other self-help books I've read. I liked the personal stories of individuals that showed good examples, sometimes humorously, to reinforce the points he was making. Also, particularly liked the cards in the back.
I Ching: or Book of Changes by Richard Willhelms: Imagine 4000 year old wisdom at the library. This was it.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling: This book takes and ties all the books before together. It is everything I thought it would be and more. Most of it I figured out from reading all the Harry Potter collection. It's a great book to bring the series to a close with. I didn't sleep until I finished any one of this collection. I'll be reading this one many more times as I have the others.
Isle of Dogs by Patricia Cornwell: This book was truly disappointing. I struggled as much as I could and then gave it up.
Murder at Government House by Elspeth Huxley: Interesting viewpoint of East Africa and British colonial life in the 1920's and 30's, but confusing.
Jester by James Patterson: Hated it.
Lake House by James Patterson: Loved it. Strange story by really good.
