The Expected One
I am currently finishing up The Expected One, by Kathleen McGowan. It is a
story of Mary Magdalene's lineage, and how she had three children with
Jesus, and how the main character, Maureen DePascal, is a direct descendent
of Mary Magdalene's. She starts having visions and flashes of Mary's life
and she ends up in France learning about a journal that Mary Magdalene had
kept about her life with Christ and what happened during their time together
and about her life after his death. Maureen is the target of a group of men
that revolve around the belief that John the Baptiste was the true Christ,
and also the Catholic Church, including Maureen's cousin, who is a priest.
The two groups want to find out if Maureen really is the true heir to the
lineage of Christ and Mary Magdalene, and then they want to end her life so
that the world isn't turned upside down by the shocking revelation that
Christ may have been married and had children. Supposedly Mary Magdalene
had hidden this journal and then hid it, and is now showing Maureen the way
to find it and reveal it to the world.
It is a very good book if you like Christian fiction. The tempo is good and
the story has a good flow and keeps you interested.
