Back from the Stock Market Game Conference in Memphis
Nine hours air time from Anchorage to Memphis. It wasn't too bad, however, just long---six hours from here, non-stop to Phoenix and then three on to Memphis.
I arrived a day early to catch up on sleep and to do some sight seeing before the meetings started. I started out by riding the Trolley on the Loop Route to get the lay of my surroundings. It seemed as if urban renewal was just getting under way in this area. It was still rather rough looking with very few people out and around along Main Street. I stayed at the downtown Marriott across the street from the conference center and about two blocks from the Mississippi River.
After the Trolley ride I walked to the Cotton Exchange Museum and Gift Shop.

It was a great museum with lots of interactive learning opportunities.

I spent the afternoon in the quiet, air conditioned Rock`n Soul Museum. It was actually the highlight of my trip. I loved it---great displays tracing the development of soul and rock music. Each display had excellent audio explanations and music. Moreover, they provided plenty of benches to sit on so I could really pause and enjoy. Once again virtually no one was there.
I ended the day with an incredible meal of B BQ ribs, little corn bread muffins to die for, and peach cobbler that was heavenly.
