Memphis

The three days of Stock Market Game meetings were will done. It was all about marketing. I knew that was not my strength and I have some aids.

Thursday night the Foundation for Investor Education treated us to a tour and dinner at Graceland. Since I am not, nor ever have been, a fan of Elvis, my goal had been to go to Memphis without going to Graceland. However, it was not to be. But, it wasn't too bad! Five things stood out. First, we went after hours and only our group was there for the tour and dinner. That made a huge difference. Second, Elvis had terrible taste in decorating even considering it was the 60s and 70s. Third, there were absolutely NO pictures of Elvis after he became heavy!!!! Fourth, the impressive number of gold and platinum records that lined the display walls. I had no idea there had been that many. Fifth, I had crossed him totally off my list when he came back from the army and became so heavy, soft, and pouchy looking. In fact, I thought he had died in the late 60s---no, it was 1977.
