Miscellany

Ever since 9/11 it has been amazing to me that we can have the huge 4th of July crowds at the concert on the Mall in D.C., in New York, and at the Boston Pops concert in Boston with no terrorist events. I would think that would be too great temptation to pass up. So much for what I know about it.

The operatic world will surely miss Beverly Sills. Charlie Rose gave a nice tribute to her on last night's program and public television had a 1 1/2 hour special this evening. What a remarkable woman! Yet, with all her incredible talent she had mortal challanges and hardships like the rest of us.

The market was puny today. However, my stocks that were headed to the chopping block redeemed themselves. That was good news for all.
