Je zou het niet verwachten, maar er komt een goed journalistiek stuk woensdag uit in de Party over Orange Babies. Ik heb het stuk zojuist gelezen, hier alvast de kop tekst:

Een inzet waar je een warm gevoel van krijgt, echter toen Party een onderzoek startte naar deze stichting kregen we een koude douche over ons heen. Keiharde leugens, elitair gedrag, onder druk zetten van mensen, telefoons die erop gesmeten worden, respectloos omgaan met een grote sponsor ,onwetende BN” ers zijn zaken waarop Party stuitte. Hier het relaas van een club die haar doel voorbij lijkt te schieten."

Even een korte reaktie op alle kommentaar over de scientology kerk. Dat het een stelletje 'scammers' zijn daar in die zgn 'kerk' geloof ik best, en dat zij gebruik maken van mensen wil ik ook geloven, maar dat is heel wat anders dan een sekte.
Volgens de Dikke van Dale is de betekenis van het woord 'sekte:
sek-te (de ~, ~n/~s) 1 [pej.] gesloten religieuze groepering met een sterke leider
Hubbard is al jaren dood, en volgens mij moet je minstens levend zijn om te kunnen voldoen aan de omschrijving van een 'sterke leider'. Jammer dat het zo slecht is begaan met deze 'leer'. Het boek is echt het lezen waard.

Last week on my way to florida I met a 747 captain who was very enthousiastic about showing me all the cool stuff he had on his Mac. With ease he showed me qucktime DV movies of him flying a gypsy moth (with wooden airframe) only feet above the surface of the English Channel and other neat multimedia stuff. I noticed an icon titled 'Earth Browser' on his desktop, he couldn't show me the whole application since it rerally needs a net connection to function properly, but I downloaded it this morning and was amazed at botht he program and the business model.
Earth Browser is a graphic rich application that aggregates all kinds of freely available weather related data and presents it as an interactive world map that can be customized to who weather, webcams, forecasts and almost anything a pilot wants for a general weather briefing. $29.95 removes some limitations and let's you zoom into 2 kilometers depth.
Sure I can get the same information free from online sources, but I'm happy to pay for the packaging the developers of the software did. Great job guys!
