I just received my first beta of PulpFiction, a new rss reader for OSX. First impressions:

Slow, probably due to debugging scripts etc.

Phantom pop-up appear on my screen when opening a page in the built-in browser. No way to get rid of them.

Crashes on 'bad' feeds

Good stuff: feed validator

Lots of Radio compatibility, including import/export of OPML subscription files and ability to subscribe from 'coffee mugs'.

Lots of search, filter and label goodies, just like Mail and other parts of OSX work.

Stylesheets! yes, this makes customizing the view of each posting really nice.

PF is a so called 'three paned' aggregator. Not my favourite kind but I'm hopefull all the customization features will proove to be a useful wagon for me.

Once the beta goes public, I'll be soliciting applescripts to launch bittorrent enclosures :)

Yafro is a picture-blog service. Here's a list of photoblogs by soldiers stationed in Iraq.

Yowsa! Een leuke week om naar uit te kijken! Goede line-up weer voor de show. Hhh'rrrrrr.

heh, net de uitzending van kopspijkers terug gekeken. Leuk om vermeld te worden in het nummer van 'drs. P'. Beetje luguber wel om te denken hoe ik 'aan zijn stijve pimel door falluja wordt gesleept'.

I've been talking to a couple of folks in the past few weeks about using rss and bittorrent to flow video through the exisiting weblog infrastructure. Dave and Andrew's visit to Amsterdam really got things kick-started.

After a near perfect iChat/AIM video conference last night with Dave, the current plan is to develop a 'transmit/receiver application in it's simpelest form, using python, rss and bittorrent. Marcus is working on it as we speak.

Once broadcasting through this app is as easy as dragging a media file (video you made, mp3 recording etc) into a folder and forgetting about it, I expet we can get folks interested in at least using the 'receiver' portion.

From there it's on to aggregator developers. I'm hoping that fresh flowing content will encourage developers to add support for enclosures. The basis of the system.

btw, there are already several good feeds that have enclosures worth watching/listening to. Some even have .torrent files!

I've pointed to audio 'mashups' on the blog before, now comes the image mashup, as pointed to by boing boing, a german newspaper mashed up an ipod advertisement with a torture pic.

Vriend George Clooney neemt zijn dagen in Amsterdam wel erg serieus :)

This is without a doubt my favourite page of photoshop-jobs. Take a modern day celebrity and put them in another century. Home made timetravel. Many of these are good enough to print and frame! [via kole]

Chinese Proverb: "The palest ink is better than the best memory."

Dave Barry: "Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet.

This post from Kathryn Cramer seems to triangulate more nastiness stemming from the prisoner torture scandal.

A week after the scandal broke involving photos of American troops torturing Iraqi prisoners, Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg, Brown, & Root is pulling the plug on private electronic communications with the folks back home, apparently at the request of the Department of Defence.

"Oh my God," Janet screamed, "I just flushed Michael down the toilet!"

This is starting to sound more like a schoolyard than the whitehouse. Vice President Dick Cheney rushed to the aid of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld -- under fire over Iraqi prison abuses -- by saying people should "get off his case" and let Rumsfeld do his job. [nice to have reuters on rss!]

Meanwhile, in th UK, Downing Street admitted last night the Red Cross showed ministers a copy of a report detailing abuses in February
