Nick points out that there is an rss feed for the amber alert project which helps locate missing kids. A must-add as a default for aggregators. Too bad the feed doesn't include pictures or descriptions, but it's a start.
Back in march of 2003 it may have seemed funny to some when US congres initiated the 'Invasion of The Hague Act' when congress enacted legislation giving the president power to use "all means necessary" to free any Americans the International Criminal Court takes into custody. Not so funny now that it appears actual war crimes have been commtted by US military personnel.
So what will happen? Will the ICC stand strong and bring the guilty to trial? Will the US invade Holland because of it? Or will it all be business as usual?
Genoeg is genoeg.
A Dutch soldier has been killed and another injured in an attack in the town of As Samawah in southern Iraq.
You can count on there being plenty of discussion here in the coming days about Holland's precense in Iraq. I was on the very bridge where this soldier was killed only 2 months ago. The iraqi civilians were extremely pleased with the 'rebuilding' the dutch troops are providing in southern iraq.
Until last night, hostilities were not present against the dutch. All this makes me wonder why they were attacked and if indeed they were iraqis. Regardless, I expect the dutch government to have the dutch military complete their mission, which ends in July and then pull them out.
As an aside, it would be nice to see some reporting on this incident from the bigpubs, so far not much.
