The software product manager in me is addicted to Google's AdWords Select.

How many man months of effort would it take to reproduce Mac OS X's dock behavior and performance using JavaScript in a web browser?
How about iPhoto's real-time zooming thing?

If I were a full-time doc writer, I'd have my own special version of finished documentation where I did a global search and replace on "click". As in,
To launch an application in the Finder, double-dick the app's icon.

Loquacious.

I wonder if everyone started writing "1 dick buying" instead of
"1 click buying" whether anyone would notice.

I have this strange dream where myself, Brad Hutchings, Dave Winer, Cabel Sasser, and Jason Fried introduce the next big thing in personal computing at a press conference at the Bethesda, MD Marriott. The new Lisa Loeb album is playing subtly in the background before things get started. All of our friends and families are there, proud of (and astonished by) our accomplishment.
After it's over, we all head down to the hot tub to relax. A few minutes later, someone hands me a cell phone. It's Jeff Bezos! We expect him to congratulate us. But, instead he's called to tell us that our stuff infringes on a patent in their portfolio. He wants to talk about our licensing it. Dave farts loudly, everyone laughs, the cell phone cuts out, and we forget he ever called.

I asked Eric Costello if he's interested in coauthoring an article that looks at desktop user interface development with Interface Builder from a CSS web designer's perspective.
I think the desktop is back in a big way. It's not a religious thing for me. It's a productivity thing.

David McCusker, a brilliant and thoughtful technologist who inspired me to get into software in the mid-90s, gave me some really good advice about working at Big Co.'s, but I failed to heed it.
I continue to want to work with David.

Good luck to the Creo guys in launching their Six Degrees product. (This is the perfect example of the radically innovative stuff I talked about in my "Advice for Apple (Part 1)" post.)
To say I'm pulling for you, would be an understatement. If there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask.

My wife and I, walking through the Dupont Circle area of DC yesterday, see a building that houses a "Policy" consultancy.
About a block later, impersonating a policy person, she says, "Don't question me, I do policy work." As a former policy person, I laughed hard.

Hey, my 3+ year old Yikes G4 got a nice little performance boost from the OS X v10.1.3 update. Cool! Exactly what I want from a platform vendor.
