It was system update day today. Updated or upgraded my five machines: Windows NT (1), Windows XP Pro (2), and Linux (1). Everything seems to be humming right up to my firewall, which is dropping packets. Just power cycled the firewall and all seems to be well again. 10:28:26 PM

Oh, by the way, Radio is working fine on Windows XP Professional. 9:33:16 PM

I took my life in my own hands this evening and upgraded by main desktop to Windows XP Professional. To make things even more dangerous, I performed the upgrade without backing up my files. It was quite the tight rope act. It is over now and all is well. All I have to do is reinstall my printer drivers and everything is back to normal. I have to get used to this new interface, but the perceived performance is great. 9:32:48 PM

It is a sad day. I handed over my Audi this evening. The crown jewel is no more. A moment of silence, please. 7:47:03 PM

I've got good news to report. The XP/NT 4.0 trust relationship issue only comes into play if you don't have the Security Rollup Package installed on the NT 4.0 server. OK, it has been a while since I paid attention to my primary domain controller. However, the SRP is a little known release. I pride myself on staying on top of stuff like this and I didn't even know about it until today. 9:49:24 AM

Ran into an interesting error while brining my new XP laptop online. Apparently XP doesn't like Windows NT 4. I successfully brought the laptop into my domain. As soon as I rebooted, the server reported a failed trust relationship. I'll have to do some research on this one in the morning. If this problem is pervasive, it has the potential to stall many corporate XP roll outs until the Windows 2000 server migrations are complete. From what I can tell, these server migrations are going extremely slow. 2:19:38 AM

Windows XP is supposed to be this all compatible operating system. Nothing could be father from the truth. I purchased a HP zt1180 the other day an am trying to get Windows 2000 Professional to run on it. It is not going to work. Specific device drivers are not available for Windows 2000, but are available for Windows XP. How can this be? I am now having to check every piece of software I run to see if it runs on Windows XP. 12:05:50 AM
