Oh, whew! IM chatting and informal email habits are not going to turn me into an illiterate according to Dr. David Crystal."He sees computer-mediated discourse as the third cardinal event in language." The first is speech, then comes writing, and now Internet-mediated language. 9:18:16 PM

If Dave Barry had written this last year, I would be laughing my head off. But since I've gone over to the dark side and joined the ranks of XP, I have not had a single crash or BSOD <Blue Screen of Death> Really! I didn't even realize it until today when I was installing the Webcam <Cheese! Hi Mom!>. Oh, it didn't crash on me, but it took a bit of tweaking to make the whole thing work. Nonetheless, it's still humorous and makes you think, "Oh yeah, that's happened to me before." 9:13:33 PM

Ooh, Dave is being a tease about the BOTY! Guess we'll have to tune in on Friday. He is, at least, giving us a little bite each day with the winners of his other awards. The first is Wesley Felter. Goodness knows, the lucky guy is getting lots of notice (read: HITS) from Dave's announcement and doesn't need my help.. 8:49:19 PM

Cringely makes his predictions for 2002, calling it the year of XML. No doubt about that with all the patent hoopla. This is going to sound weird, but I am going to share it anyway. I even had dreams that I was falling behind in the Web world because my site was not XMLed.
Because of that, I tried to dig in and try to implement some XML tricks. Well, Verio doesn't have XML support. I am starting to regret my decision to host with them more each day. 6:06:58 PM
