WTF ie. 5.2
Ok, so I just installed Internet Explorer 5.2.
why? you never ue IE anymore...
Well, because I'm an upgrade slut, ok? Show me the update to a programme I have installed, and I will simply HAVE to install it.
ok, go on...
So the damned thing comes with an installer.
so?
Well, OK, no big deal, but the installer quits out of all my programmes.
again...so?
C'mon! Gimme a break! This is Mac OS X fer crying out loud. We're talking the OS I've been able to install Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator on simultaneously!
ok. so their installer sucks.
Yeah, but that's not it, after the thing installs, It leaves behind an installer log. So I fiure "Wth, let's see what it installed where."
and...?
All of the files, all of them were installed in the "internet Explorer.app "directory"!!! (That's a bundle out there for you folks who are unfamiliar)
So, basically you can install IE 5.2 by copying the Internet explorer.app to your hard drive. WTH was the point of the *#&$^ installer!?!?!
Let it go, son...it's Chinat, I mean Microsoft

Rodney O. Lain Passed Away During Weekend Mac Evangelist and writer took his own life over this last weekend. "Bummer", doesn't really work, but it'll do. I wasn't ever a heavy reader of his stuff, but he had a distinctive voice that was good to listen to, and he will be missed. There's some info on the memorial service.

MacHack announces MacHack is calling upon attendees of the annual conference of Macintosh software developers to support its declaration of June 20th as "Defunct Company Day." Those attending MacHack next week in Dearborn, Michigan, are asked to wear t-shirts or bring promotional items form a defunct business or popular interest product no longer available, for a chance to win a prize. [MacNN]
Back when I worked for the Air Force, we had something like this, we called it "Microsoft Business Partners Day".
Considering the guys who I was working with were somewhat Windows-Centric, it was pretty fun.
