So, I have to say that when I saw this article about Steve Jobs calling the father of the boy who was stabbed over an iPod, I was kind of offended.
I just couldn't imagine why the hell you would do something like that.
I mean, what are you going to say to someone who's son is dead, and...you're the guy who runs the company that makes the device that he refused to hand over? How does that not end up looking like a scummy publicity stunt?
Well...apparently like this.
First off, Jobs has an impressive ability to talk. According to the father, Jobs' call did lighten his load for a bit, in which case, well, more power to him.
Secondly, what he reportedly said was just offering his help in any way. Nobody's saying exactly what he said.
Which leads us to Thirdly: Jobs won't discuss what he said. I have to say I'm actually impressed.
I must admit I'm still a little weirded out by it, but I dunno. At a gut level it still seems improper, somehow.
