The Joys of Upgrading
Now don't get me wrong. I am certain that I will come to love new system, it is fast and powerful and will keep me quite happy for a number of years. But, I didn't think that it would take this long to get things smoothed out.
The basic process was this 1) migrate my development server to a co-location site to replace a manila server, 2) convert my existing desktop box into a development server, and 3) purchase a new desktop box and migrate my existing software to it. A simple process...
Two weeks later, I am still working on this.
I am fighting various config problems: I my SCSI card doesn't work on the new box, my iPod lost all of its music...
Until today I was fighting DNS problems, but I think I have that fixed. My subdomains are now live!!!. But a number of web images are missing. Probably a directory that I forgot to save (no worries, the images are still there, I just need to figure out how to point to them).
Ask me in a week or two if it was worth it? At that point, I will probably say yes, but right now, I'm not so sure.
