After playing around a bit, I decided against a recently updated listing. I think that I have code that would pull it off now, but I would have to test it on the live server and I'm not ready for that. Since the directory contains a mixture of Manila sites and external sites, I have to poll the external sites to get the last modified date. This seems to take too long, so I could only update the table once a day. Which isn't reallly what I had in mind.

So, I ended up with a variable-sized, alphabetic listing. The current default lists 25 sites, I am thinking of changing that to 10. The navigation elements are based on UserLand designs, but with a couple of enhancements. For example, the user can change the number of listings and this is remembered as they navigate through the directory.

I am pleased with the result, though there are a couple of places that I could improve it.

Apple offers computer recycling for U.S. customers. The Apple Equipment Recycling Program offers a low-cost way to dispose of old Macs without the guilt of tossing the machine in the trash. Excellent! [Mac Net Journal]

Perhaps it is time to start dismantling my museum of old Macs. Most are too old to donate and I don't see a need for them all. More importantly, I could use the space.
