Russ Lipton Documents Radio simplex veri sigillum From the mailbag, heck, from Steve Pilgrim: "I've read your weblog with interest these past few weeks. You are providing a great service." Blush. Thanks. "If you'll pardon the intrusion, I have 2 "quick" questions:"
Oh yeah. I'm in trouble. That is what Socrates used to say before he exposed the ignorance of his students.
"1. Re: Clearing your weblog - Doesn't this "violate" some oath that webloggers take to never sever a permalink?" I ain't taken no oath. Seriously, we need to balance two competing realities: our ownership of our own content against our respect for other bloggers and readers. In my judgment, deleting personal posts from a personal weblog falls into a different category than the San Jose Mercury trashing its archives. But I could be wrong there. I smell a longer essay here ... "2. Re: Post, publish, upstreaming on/off and work offline on/off - Is it true that several different techniques using one or more of these features can be used to post without publishing for the world to see?" I feel the simplest solution here is to use the underlying Radio desktop application. You've got a world-class outliner there and can always copy-paste from there to your weblog if you have something for the world. You can use Radio.Root to organize those outlines to any desired depth. Or, you can create any number of local websites if you prefer that and display them (preview-publish) for your own edification - also locally. By taking this route, you also avoid the need to 'hack' the browser weblog side beyond its intended core design until/if you understand enough about the entire application to do that efficiently and safely. The coolness of the browser side is more than matched - in a different way - by the many years of development that are embedded within the Radio desktop application. feedback: 8:43:21 PMFrom the mailbag: "See the URL to Steve Pilgrim's weblog. All of his questions, some of which haven't been answered publicly are worth answering. I'm interested in them at least." Me too. feedback: 8:15:45 PM
