"Costco's Dilemma: Be Kind To Its Workers, or Wall Street? Wall Street says their stock price could be higher if they abused their workers, and they owe that to stockholders, even though poor service would put them in direct competition with Sams Club." [Daypop Top 40]
It has been said that a good business must satisfy 5 factions: the government, its suppliers, its shareholders, its employees and its customers. For way too long, only the shareholders have gotten any respect. Customer service is often a joke, the government is swindled, the employees are overworked and underpaid and the suppliers are screwed. So now Wall Street is complaining about a company that actually does want to serve all 5. I will go shop at Costco and I will not at Wall Mart. Maybe that will help their bottom line. It is only a dilemma if you are the same sort of short-sighted, emotional stunted dwarf that caused the Internet bubble because ALL those companies was the investors. Look at the numbers. Costco's employment tunrover is half of what Costco is. When an employee walks, all the money spent on traiing them also walks. It is a waste of the company's investment and indirectly the investment of shareholders. But somehow, that is a good thing if it is Walmart. 9:04:55 AM
