James Fenimore Cooper's Literary Offenses
Boing Boing posted this link to Mark Twain's famous essay on the literary offenses of James Fenimore Cooper. I haven't read this in years. It's a model of clear, disciplined thinking, and well worth reading even if you haven't read James Fenimore Cooper at all or in a while. Though the particular offenses are different, I kept thinking of George Lucas and Star Wars as I read it.
