Tony Kushner Continues to Tinker With 'Homebody/Kabul'. Tony Kushner continues to revise his play about Afghanistan, which had its world premiere last December and has already been published. He says he's "trying to get it right." By Mel Gussow. [New York Times: Arts]
Interesting changes. I can see why he is making them, and this piece is really interesting to read as insight into the playwright's methodology. Still, it makes me feel like the work I saw was unfinished, and seems to lessen that experience a little. Maybe it was flawed, but changing it now still doesn't seem right.

Bush's Boss is a Jewish Carpenter?
Good piece in CounterPunch about the way that the Bushies say they follow Jesus, but seem to pervert everything he said. Of course, there's the flaw about the whole god thing: if there has, indeed, been revelation, then why isn't it clearer? The Bible is contradictory in so many ways, even the New Testament which is claimed to be a unified vision. I am not familiar with the Koran, and frankly am not interested in becoming so, but my understanding is that it is nearly as contradictory. Why doesn't an all-seeing, all-knowing, all-loving god provide clear guidelines? There's only one answer: the god is a creation of man.

Exclusive: Buzz Aldrin Blazing a Trail to Mars. In an exclusive interview with NewsFactor, history-making astronaut Buzz Aldrin talked about how he is applying his knowledge and vision -- along with that of the three universities with which he is collaborating -- to the challenge of how to get from Earth to the red planet. [osOpinion] Aldrin's idea is really exciting, and it seems workable. He envisions "cylcler" vehicles which are in their own solar orbit. The orbit is eccentric so that it passes by both Earth and Mars, so once they are in orbit, energy costs to travel between Earth and Mars are very low: you just have to run a shuttle to the cycler from the planet. Gad, I'd love to live long enough to see this happen.

White House: Bush Misstated Report on Iraq
This is appropriate to my last post, yesterday.
Seeking to build a case Saturday that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein was developing weapons of mass destruction, President Bush cited a satellite photograph and a report by the U.N. atomic energy agency as evidence of Iraq’s impending rearmament. But in response to a report by NBC News, a senior administration official acknowledged Saturday night that the U.N. report drew no such conclusion, and a spokesman for the U.N. agency said the photograph had been misinterpreted.
