No, none of these are true

No unburned bible was found.

Neither was a body strapped into an airplane seat.

And Nostradamus did not predict 9/11.

Remember, just because you get something in an email, or hear it on the radio, doesn't mean it's true. Besides being untrue, the above stories are just plain silly, and even a moment's careful thought would expose that. But sometimes careful thinking is hard to come by; when in doubt, it doesn't hurt to spend a few minutes researching something before passing it along. Snopes has a great Rumors of War page debunking all the above and more.

Byron Hoyt Sheet Music -- Press

San Francisco Classical Voice has a nice writeup this week about the project I've been working on lately, Byron Hoyt's deal to bring PDF sheet music to the web along with ebrary. It's been a fun project; this part of it has been spent crunching a lot of text, making what was only moderately consistent data (title, composer, etc.) into something more useful. I used a lot of Perl, but did most of the processing in SQL Server. There's a lot more to be done...

(Alas, the link to the SFCV story is just to the front page of the site, I can't find a permalink. I'll see what I can do about that, otherwise, it looks like this will rot in a couple days.)
