Damn
Well, this World Series loss is just too depressing to bear. The Giants got beat, that's all there is to it. I turned the channel as soon as the game ended, and just don't want to watch the news or read the paper. There won't be a next year, either: this group won't be together next year. I bet Baker will be gone. Kent. David Bell. Lofton, Sanders, Santiago. This was the best shot the Giants had had in a long time, and it'll probably be their last best shot for some time to come.

Gas 'killed Moscow hostages'. A senior Russian medical official says all but one of the 117 hostages killed at the end of the Moscow theatre siege died from gas poisoning. [BBC News | Front Page]
Dang, my SF Chronicle didn't get delivered this morning, so I haven't yet read about this one in detail. This is awful, to kill over a hundred people in answer to a hostage situation. This is the way terror wins. I wonder if the Bush administation will look the other way in return for Iraq approval by Russia at the UN?
