CRAIG CRAWFORD: WHY COOPER SHOULD GO TO JAIL CRAIG CRAWFORD - Matt Cooper is one of the niftiest guys I ever met in this town. And a damn good amateur stand-up comedian. But I want him to go to jail. We need this. Americans must see a reporter in handcuffs to understand what is happening to the freedom of the press. He should do a Martha Stewart and immediately volunteer to go to a minimum security facility where there will be no issue about his safety. And he should insist on a perp walk to the squad car. Cassini and Saturn by Paul R Wilson Jr Launched October 15, 1997 Cassini entered orbit of Saturn one year ago and is one of the coolest NASA projects in years. Take a look at some of the more recent photos. The Moons: Clouds over the titan impact craters on Rhea The wispy lines on Dione and again here Dione to eclipse its distant sibling moon Rhea Saturn: saturns south poll with odd banding. Nice straight on shot of saturn. Shot of the waves of turbulance though the clouds. The rings: a movie of the newly discovered wavemaker moon in the Keeler gap of the rings. False color imagies of the rings to indicate particle density. Cassini's climb to progressively higher elevations reveals the "negative" side of Saturn's rings. Vote on the best Cassini image of the first year. (Via BOPnews.) Nice Paul Wilson post. Jeez, Cassini has delivered such as rich panoply of images of the most fascinating planetary system known, and because there's so much good stuff, a lot it gets ignored.
