The Brad Blog:
It’s been nearly a week and a half since the non-partisan Government Accountability Office (GAO) released its 107-page report confirming that electronic voting machines are not secure, are hackable, and employ secret software that is frequently neither certified nor adequately inspected.
The report confirmed, on October 20th, that “[C]oncerns about electronic voting machines have been realized and have caused problems with recent elections, resulting in the loss and miscount of votes.”
Furthermore, it was released along with a very rare joint bi-partisan news release from six (3 R’s and 3 D’s) very high-ranking U.S. Congressmen. And yet, to date, there has not be a single article on any of the above on any wire service or in any major American newspaper. Not one. What gives?

No more Mr. Nice Guy.
This past weekend, we witnessed the indictment of the I. Lewis Libby, the Vice President's Chief of Staff and a senior Advisor to President Bush. Libby is the first sitting White House staffer to be indicted in 135 years. This indictment raises very serious charges. It asserts this Administration engaged in actions that both harmed our national security and are morally repugnant. The decision to place U.S. soldiers in harm's way is the most significant responsibility the Constitution invests in the Congress. The Libby indictment provides a window into what this is really about: how the Administration manufactured and manipulated intelligence in order to sell the war in Iraq and attempted to destroy those who dared to challenge its actions.

Great post on Praire Weather about Bush's attempt to change the subject by getting into the flu hysteria. But
[I]f you take a hard look at what Bush intends to do, you can't fail to notice that his proposals will a) once again reduce liability for huge corporations; b) put taxpayer money -- in the billions -- into corporate hands; c) raise the possibility of further US interventions in areas of the world where avian flu becomes the new "terrorism."
My pal Jim got a bit more extreme and noted that the 20 million doses of vaccine Bush wanted to by dovetails nicely with the population of Texas. Heh.
