In January in his State of the State address, California's governor stated that if the legislature (also elected, and in fair, not 'special' elections, unlike said governor) didn't do what he wanted, the voters of California would rise up against them, "and you know what, I'd join them." Instead of "joining" them, he went on to ignore the legislature, not try to work against it, and raise millions of dollars on four ludicrous state propositions. Instead of trying to do the hard work of meeting the big challenges the state faces, he concentrated on silencing public workers, concentrating his power to cut taxes, and try to gerrymander districts for the legislature. It was clear all along -- the people didn't want, didn't need this election, and yesterday this actor was slapped down on all fronts. Maybe now he can get to work, he says he will, but I'm not betting on it.
