About like this review says, the show is kind of an ambling mess. The band is pretty awful. Yet because the audience video is shot so well, it's actually pretty fun to watch. At least once. The acousting songs are good, the song selection is different than what we're getting these days, and Bob does some nice comic gestures, though his face is often hidden in the shadows from the hat. But maybe he's just drunk. In any case, the band is so lackluster, the show never rises to what it could be. I just missed these winter 91 shows in Europe. I spent a week in Geneva just days before Bob played Zurich.

Tuning MySQL -- or any SQL, so far as I know -- is a challenge. But good database design and tuning is key to many web sites, and can be lots of fun. Every database has its unique problems, and it's definitely not a case of one size fits all. I've gone through the books, and read tons of web pages. One of my favorite blogs is the aptly named MySQL Performance Blog, from Peter Zaitsev. It's must reading. But a blog isn't necessarily the right place to keep all this stuff, and it's a bit tricky to find things. At the OpenSource Database Conference, Zaitsev gave a detailed presentation on optimizing MySQL, and if you're using that server at all in any kind of serious situation, it's must reading, better than all the books I've got. The PDF set of slides is here. Another set of slides, involving high performance FullText searching in MySQL is here, and it's pretty good, too, though the information is a bit slimmer. Finally, links to all Zaitsev's presentations are here, and it's really invaluable stuff.
