Helen Mirren amazes -- as usual, if that makes any sense -- in The Queen, the surprisingly moving story of the struggle of Queen Elizabeth II to deal with the death of Princess Diana. Maybe Mirren's performance shouldn't be a big surprise, but she's surrounded by a number of actors who do great jobs, too. I highly recommend this movie. (Also highly recommended is the recent Masterpiece Theatre, Prime Supect: The Last Case, in which Mirren was, again, just stunning.)

I have several hundred cassette tapes of Dylan performances. I stopped gathering tapes in probably 97 or 98, so the collection stops then. Of course, now we download stuff using Bittorrent, so there's no need for shipping these tapes around, and I haven't listened to any of them in years and years. So I want to get rid of these tapes, but I'd just as soon not toss them in the recycler. If anyone's interested in them, or has good general tips on getting rid of them, let me know. If you're in the bay area and willing to make a trip to my house, and can give them a good home, I'll be happy to give them to you. There's lots of good stuff in here.
