Europeans Outlaw Net Hate Speech. The measure, which bans the publication of material that promotes racism and violence online, clashes directly with U.S. laws protecting such speech. By Julia Scheeres. [Wired News]
Specifically, the amendment bans "any written material, any image or any other representation of ideas or theories, which advocates, promotes or incites hatred, discrimination or violence, against any individual or group of individuals, based on race, colour, descent or national or ethnic origin, as well as religion if used as pretext for any of these factors."
In theory this would ban BBC's coverage of the Middle East ("hate speech" against Jews) and most anything Eurocrats have to say about the United States ("hate speech" against Americans). But somehow I doubt that this law would really be enforced that way. More likely sites in England which oppose the EU would suddenly find themselves declared "hate speech."

Gun-pointing at trial spurs outburst. Bill Douthat at The Palm Beach Post -
Gun-pointing at trial spurs outburst - a witness complained loudly
when the questioning attorney pointed an evidence gun at him. As well
he should. The lawyer should be arrested for assault with a deadly
weapon. That it was unloaded makes no difference. [kaba] [End the War on Freedom]
Specifically, this was a lawyer who's suing a gun manufacturer because someone was shot using one of the company's pistols, in the hope of driving gun manufacturers out of business defending against bogus lawsuits. This certainly shows what kind of people are involved in those suits.
