1st Amendment riots in Iran. Glenn Reynolds pointed out an article in today's New York Times on the 4th day of student riots in Iran.... [Samizdata.net]
The student protests have spread to other cities and seem likely to continue unless the medieval mullahs stomp on them, an action which would just polarize any remaining fence sitters. The Iranian students are living proof there is a liberal, tolerant 21st Century face to Islam crying out for escape from the rule of fundamentalist fruitcakes.

The folks we're referring to are not, we hasten to note, a majority of Democrats or liberals. Such responses do not predominate among Democratic officeholders, in Congress and elsewhere--that is, among people who actually have positions of responsibility. But among certain professional and amateur liberal commentators outside government, the response to the loss has been downright pathological:

Mozilla has an annoying habit of opening a new window when it's sent a URL--for example, by clicking on a link in an email or opening a bookmark file in the Finder. I can see how that might be desirable sometimes, but mostly it's a nuisance. There really ought to be a setting in the preferences so that users can decide if they want a new window or not.
