Send your name to Pluto. hatredman writes "NASA is preparing to send the New Horizons probe to Pluto. It will be the first earth device to get intimate with the icy planet. And you can be there too - or, at least, your name. NASA is asking everyone to send them their names, which will be attached in the space device. The New Horizons probe will be launched in January 2006 to explore Pluto and the Kuiper belt, in the outskirts of the Solar System. It is expected that the probe will return to earth in approximately 50 thousand years." [Slashdot]

More police thuggery. It seems there's an article like this in the paper every day. And these are only the instances that get press. In this case, (see here, too)an innocent breastfeeding woman is tossed around by some cop in front of her... By Ryan McMaken. [LewRockwell.com Blog]

From one of the articles on this case:

"If (the detective) had to spend a day in jail like I did and be scared, not knowing what's going to happen, and have her family crying and worried about her, then I think she would understand where I'm coming from," Mercedes said.

That sounds like a good idea to me.

The retired officer - of assistant chief constable rank or higher - has testified that the CIA planted the tiny fragment of circuit board crucial in convicting a Libyan for the 1989 mass murder of 270 people.
