I've been thinking of doing so for a while, as I had already stopped using it in favor of Skype. The combination of AT&T taking over my phone service and the news about them collaborating with the NSA finally motivated me to do it. The lady I spoke to asked why I was cancelling my service, and was shocked and upset when I told her about the wiretapping.
