Interesting
One system for all handhelds?. Two Singapore programmers say they have created an operating system able to run programs written for Windows as well as Linux on a handheld device. [CNET News.com]
This seems like an interesting idea, though I'm not sure exactly what it does. Really, it's one of those things that seems too good to be true and probably is. I have to wonder, if this works as well as they say why target PDAs? Why not more general systems as a cost saving mechanism. For instance using linux clients to run Windows apps off a server. Seems to make more sense then running the desktop version of Word on a 4" screen. There's a lot more to being usable then just getting the apps to run. Me thinks we'll never hear of this again.

Coursey on Linux
Why I've learned to like Linux (but not to love it). ZDNet Jun 17 2002 11:52PM ET [Moreover - Open source news]
David Coursey is now trying a switch to Linux after his pretty successful switch to Mac OS X. His conclusion, if you want a UNIX based OS get Mac OS X. I agree. I love linux on the server, but I still get more and more disenchanted with the desktop. I haven't yet tried KDE 3 though, mainly because I don't really expect much from it, but I've got a set of Redhat 7.3 disks waiting to replace the Mandrake 8 installation on my PC laptop. We'll see if I ever get around to actually installing it, there's not much incentive since I switched to Mac OS X.
