It's just two words...
I Pledge Allegiance to my flag
and the Republic for which it stands,
one Nation, indivisible,
with liberty and justice for all.
--Francis Bellamy (1855 - 1931)
This was how the Pledge of Allegiance was originally written. It's too bad that the right-wing has to try and turn it into a tool to test loyalty. It is as pure an expression of our love for this great country as has ever been written. We pledge allegiance to the flag and what it represents, not to 'a God', or 'the God'. We have other venues for that. We should respect the rights of all Americans, regardless of their beliefs.
That is what this country represents, freedom of belief...mj
