From MacCentral:
The news of Silicon Grail’s technology acquisition follows other similar moves from Apple as the company continues to expand its influence into the professional film production industry, including the company’s acquisition of compositing software maker Nothing Real.
An Apple spokesperson confirmed for MacCentral that they had acquired technologies from Silicon Grail and said only that “Apple intends to use the acquired technologies in future products.”

WaSP, the Web Standards Project, has a newly rebuilt website. The organization played a big role in Dreamweaver MX being programmed to support Web standards. Now that it has helped bring about such a big shift, WaSP is adding Web designer education to its many tasks.
A number of Web designers, and especially Web programmers, I come across are gigantic ego-wankers. Maybe they had bad toilet training when growing up. Their code is often execrable, and may work in one or two current over-forgiving web browsers, but it adheres to no standards known to Man.
Query them on this, and they often give an auto-erotic spiel about how that is their own very special way, and how they have always done it like that, and always will do it that way, and no petty little Web standards are going to make them give it up.
Luckily not all designers and programmers have such a bad attitude. Certainly not the ones I teach coding to.
I hope the Web design ego-wankers I have met are in the extreme minority, as WaSP will have a damned hard job on their hands re-educating them!

Mark Frauenfelder of weblog BoingBoing is one of the real people stars of Apple’s new batch of TV commercials. He’s the one with the black plastic-rimmed glassess and checked shirt.
Mark is a serious and dedicated weblogger, who reads over 100 ’blogs and RSS feeds each day. He’s one big ’blog filter.
