Public spending media frenzy
The difference between where Mr Alexander's sensible trimming
becomes the end of all civilisation as we know it, is the difference
between either £683 billion pounds of taxation spending or £663 billion
pounds of taxation spending; Mr Letwin really is right to claim that there's barely a Rizla cigarette paper separating our two major political parties. [Semizdata]
I would like to see a graph of public spending per head against time
since 1945. It would be interesting to see how the efficiencies made
possible by the rise the internet and modern data processing (to name
but two advances) have reduced the cost of administering the UK.
