Domestic violence rates 'high'. As many as one in three women who turn up in A&E have a history of suffering from domestic violence. [BBC News | UK | UK Edition]

This is bad. Incidentally, does anyone have the corresponding figures for men, or did the researchers just not bother to ask?

Update: An estimate. The 2001/02 British Crime Survey (BCS) found 19% of domestic violence incidents were reported to be male victims with just under half of these being committed by a female abuser.

The statistics are not directly comparable, but they are interesting none the less.
