Make Your Own Audio Clips
Looks like Doug Kaye has introduced a new feature that allows you to audioblog sections of his audio web productions such as the Gillmor Gang.
Good news: I think it's a great idea.
Bad news: It doesn't seem to work. I should clarify that it doesn't work for me "out of the box". My Real player keeps coming up and complaining when I click any of the links.
Doug says "The rest should be obvious". I say "Maybe to him". My assumption from his description is it simply works with everything. I wonder how much testing with users he did? Am I using the wrong player/version? Maybe it's something I'm doing wrong.
In the meantime I'm waiting for Doug to explain technically his design of this feature. I have a feeling there are some limitations and requirements of the feature that need to be still communicated and discussed within the community. It's to early in the evolution of this feature and to important of a feature to not know what is going on behind the scenes.
I don't mean to sound or come off down on the feature because I'm not and I appreciate all of Doug's efforts here. It's definitely a greatly needed feature for audioblogging on the web today.
Great work Doug!!

IT Conversations (with enclosures: Make Your Own Audio Clips. "I've just added a new feature to IT Conversations that allows anyone (that means you!) to create an excerpt from any of our programs and paste that excerpt into any web page or blog as a simple URL. Here's an example.
Go to any of our "detail" pages such as this one and you'll see a new link labeled "Clip." Just click on that link. The rest should be obvious."
