Discrimintation in CPS Technology Training Academy!!! Right now in the back rooms of Hub 7, the fate of training Macintosh network administrators is being sorted out, Actually, Mactintosh training was to be cut out all together. Yes! It is interesting in the network basic course provided by the Chicago Board of Education, the Macintosh Servers and Macintosh computers are considered easier to set up, configure, and just seem to be the answer to a school's strained resources. I can't tell you what one of network administrator's at CPS thinks of Microsoft Information servers. Today was a "trip", when I was talking with a local system engineer, who is a Wintel guru, told me that the Mac OSX Server works better with Window's machines than Windows servers. If I was Shirley Berry, how would I think this through.. hmm.. I got these educators who have Macintosh servers and they need support. Hmmm. because it is a bit easier to configure and these machines support the superior Mac as well as Windows machines, lets support a shortened four day course. We have to offer them courses built around the Mac because they have chosen the superior machine... In the deliberate manner of a Shaolin monk, she will say, "You have chosen well and we will offer you the needed training!" Hey, there is no crime against wishful thinking!!!

Battle for Dollars Will there be further training for local school network administrators within Chicago Public Schools. Right now there is a question mark hanging over the training program. It would be nice if the decision makers talked with the tech coordinators and network administrators, for feedback. As usual this decision will be made without any consulation with the base, the folks in the schools. Looks like the "same old, same old", until the next "central office shuffle".
