Was in SoHo last weekend visiting some of the galleries. I OD on them after just 3 or 4, but walked into one that had pictures from the Fillmore East. It also some pictures of the Third Avenue El.
Going to school in Brooklyn I used to take the Myrtle Avenue El and the Jamaica Avenue El as a diversion from my usual trip on the F and GG. Both the Myrtle Ave and Jamaica Avenue Els have been completely or partially destroyed and in the case of the Jamaica Ave line replaced by the J train. Someone once described the New York City subway as his favorite electric train set, I wholeheartedly agree with that.
