The excitement around this release is very high, though I am still trying to see a commercial opportunity here.

I downloaded the release, and read the user guide. Very cool new technology for simple SOAP deployment: just drop your class files in a folder, change the suffix, and BOOM you have a SOAP web service! Of course, it also includes lots of tools to customize the WSDL.

Very interesting that Macromedia is so heavily involved with the open source project. What does it mean for ColdFusion and JRun, and how does SOAP and web services play into a Flash front-end?

Interesting idea...

?In a print-on-demand world, where the cost of creating a book runs about $1 and the capital costs run under $10K, libraries don't lend books, they give them away. Schools aren't dependent on the textbook readers the state board of education buys at a cost of millions of dollars -- every district, every school, every teacher can create their own reader at minimal cost.
