Bret is right about picking someone from the developer community. Software is bigger and more important than a few big companies.
I've been learning about setting up Redhat again this week. A little refresher course was necessary due to an upgrade that broke Evolution, then the screensaver, then VMWare, then ... Well anyway, as usual, simpler is better. Just install the stuff you need, OS stuff first, then your app. Simple
