Coyote Gulch Outage

My wife and I are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary for the next 10 days so I will not be posting to Coyote Gulch. We'll be in the Utah and Colorado back country where there is no broadband or dial up connectivity and I'm not set up to post through the cellular network even if I can get a signal. I'll admit it, I've gotten spoiled by Comcast and Ricochet.

I'm taking along Michael Maccoby's new book, The Productive Narcissist: The Promise and Peril of Visionary Leadership. I remember his book The Gamesman from years ago so I'm looking forward to the new one.

2003 Denver Mayoral Transition

Here's an article from today's Rocky Mountain News about Mayor-elect Hickenlooper's transition team and the 30 or so committees being formed. From the article, "The transition committees' titles and members will be made public sometime next week ... The closed-meeting policy has sparked debate over Colorado's open-meetings laws, which require public bodies and private groups doing public business to make their meetings open to everyone - except when they deal with personnel issues."

I'm dazed and confused about the need for privacy and the conflicting view of an open administration promised by the Mayor-elect. I'm glad it's Mr. Hickenlooper's problem. It's probably too late now to do anything about it but I really dislike calling the Mayor-elect, "Hick," as the Rocky keeps doing. It's disrespectful.
