2004 Presidential Election

Update: Here's a link to Ed Cone. He's covering the disarray in the Wesley Clark campaign. The Daily Kos is also on the story, as is NHPrimary.com.

The DNC is sponsoring a Presidential debate tomorrow night in Phoenix. It'll be on CNN starting at 8:00PM Eastern time. Here's the link to the DNC debate web page.

Bob Graham's departure from the race for the Democratic nomination is the subject of this editorial from the Rocky Mountain News [October 8, 2003, "And then there were only nine"]. From the editorial, "Less than six months after his quest began, Bob Graham has ended his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. One of the last candidates to get in - his late start hurt him - he is the first of the 10 to drop out. He now joins the roster of possible vice presidential candidates, and he has hinted that he is available as a running mate. Magic of a slightly different magnitude could still strike."

2003 Denver Mayoral Transition

Here's an article about the three new appointees named yesterday by Mayor Hickenlooper from the Denver Post [October 8, 2003, "Appointee to craft city image"]. Here's the coverage from the Rocky Mountain News [October 8, 2003, "3 more mayoral appointees on board"]. From the article, "Mayor John Hickenlooper on Tuesday named his predecessor's daughter to head the licensing department, a school board member to the city's top human rights post and chose as Denver's new marketing director the woman who brought Klondike and Snow to the world. Stephanie O'Malley, an attorney and the daughter of former Mayor Wellington Webb, was charged with streamlining regulations at the city's Department of Excise and Licensing. Lucia Guzman is the new director of the Human Rights and Community Relations Department and Angela Baier is the city's first marketing director." Here's a story from the Denver Business Journal.

Denver November 2003 Election

Douglas Bruce is threatening a lawsuit if Referendum A passes according to the Denver Post [October 8, 2003, "Bruce threatens Referendum A suit"]. Bruce is upset about the language in the Blue Book that will be sent to Colorado voters. Here's the coverage from the Rocky Mountain News [October 8, 2003, "Bruce vows legal fight on water bonds"]. From the article, "Charlie Brown, who is executive director of the legislative council staff that drafted the Blue Book, also said all legal requirements were met. 'SB 236 is not being submitted to the voters for approval or rejection,' Brown said. "It's not a referred law. It's a law that has been duly passed through the legislative process, was signed by the governor and is now the law of the land. 'Only the question is being submitted to the voters. The law directs us to publish the question. And we are doing that."
