Denver November 2004 Election

Bob Schaffer and Peter Coors debated at the Channel 12 studios yesterday, according to the Denver Post [July 13, 2004, "Coors, Schaffer debate Iraq war, Patriot Act"]. From the article, "Republicans Pete Coors and Bob Schaffer on Monday defended the U.S. attack on Iraq, despite recent reports that national leaders relied on exaggerated information to justify the invasion. Coors and Schaffer, who are running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, said the invasion was necessary to protect the U.S. from terrorism...The candidates, heading for an Aug. 10 primary, met in a debate Monday that will air on KBDI-Channel 12 at 9 p.m. Friday. They said the government should have the power to review book purchases, as allowed by the Patriot Act." Here's the coverage from the Rocky Mountain News [July 13, 2004, "GOP candidates defend Iraq war"].

The Rocky has an in-depth look at Mike Miles today, [July 13, 2004, "A poet and a patriot, Miles hears a new calling"].
