The Auditor's New Laptop
Update to this story. Mr. Gallagher writes, in the comments, "Jefferson lap desks can be obtained from David S. Beach, dsbeach@netzero.net. He will send you information about this remarkable facsimile of American history. Best wishes, Dennis Gallagher"

Programmers
Dave Winer: "My pitch to programmers, which is far more revolutionary than any programming language or operating system can be, is to look for understanding where you find it, work with people you want to work with, and don't waste time with people who won't listen and aren't grounded in the truth."

Coyote Gulch Outage
The 'Ol Coyote will be wandering about on the two-lane blacktop and county roads, across Colorado and Utah, for a few days. Posts will depend on connectivity. I'll catch up on all the cool election news soon. There are a bunch of links on the Presidential Election here and for the local Denver Election, here. Water issues are here.

2004 Presidential Election
MoveOn.org members held meetings on Monday around the country in an attempt to help defeat President Bush this November. Here are articles of a local flavor from the Denver Post [June 30, 2004, "Fanning the flames of dissent"] and from the Rocky Mountain News [June 30, 2004, "President on the hot seat"].
Here's an article from the Denver Post about a recent Battleground States poll from George Washington University (via the Tarrance Group) [June 30, 2004, "Personal qualities keeping race close, poll shows"]. You can download the poll here. Here's the link to the Wall Street Journal's Battleground States Map.
Arizona Central: "In contrast to close results from a survey two weeks earlier, a poll released Tuesday indicated that Arizonans prefer President Bush by a wide margin over Sen. John Kerry in a presidential race. Of 400 people polled statewide for the Channel 8 (KAET-TV) program Horizon, 47 percent said they were likely to vote for Bush, and 35 percent for Kerry. Sixteen percent were undecided and 2 percent supported independent Ralph Nader. The poll was conducted Thursday through Sunday. Its margin of error was plus or minus 4.9 percentage points."

Colorado Water
Denver Water meets today and will consider adding a watering day or lengthening irrigation time, according to the Rocky Mountain News [June 30, 2004, "Good news for lawns?"]. Here's a list of Denver Water's reservoirs and their current levels: Antero 0%; Eleven Mile, 83%; Cheesman, 90%; Marston, 55%; Chatfield, 79%; Dillon, 90%; Williams Fork, 85%; Wolford Mountain, 76%; Gross, 92%; Ralston, 93%.
Update: Denver Water did vote to allow another watering day for customers. Conservation takes a back seat to revenue.
