2004 Presidential Election
Senator Kerry has cancelled his visit to Colorado due to the death of Ronald Reagan. He still plans to come to the state later this month. Thanks to TheDenverChannel.com for the report.
The Denver Post editorial staff is looking at John Kerry's chances in Colorado [June 6, 2004, "Will Colorado swing red or blue?"]. From the editorial, "The most audacious Democratic strategists imagine Kerry building momentum in Colorado for a broader push in Western states. Others perhaps simply hope to rattle the Republicans and prompt Bush to divert money and attention to a state he thought was safely in the bag. The competition makes for interesting political theater normally not seen here in a presidential election year. Bush has been forced to counter Kerry's $2 million ad blitz with one of his own, and the president made appearances in the state last week. Kerry's decision to invest in a state where Republicans enjoy a 184,700-person edge in voter registration seems ludicrous to many political observers who say the GOP enjoys perhaps the most lopsided margin in the state's history."
Taegan Goddard: "The Marketing Research Institute poll shows Bush leading Kerry 48% to 42%," in Louisiana, "nearly within the poll's margin of error."
John Kerry leads George Bush nationally, 49% to 41%, according to a recent CBS News poll.

Update: Taegan Goddard has the low down on John Kerry's search for a running mate.
