2004 Presidential Election

President Bush leads Senator Kerry 51% to 44%, in South Carolina, according to a Survey USA poll. Thanks to Taegan Goddard for the link.

TalkLeft: "The major tv networks may not be broadcasting much of the political conventions on television, but a few will provide extensive coverage on the internet, with interactive features. Among them: CBS and ABC." Another first in this year's election cycle.

Check out the Wall Street Journal's Battleground States map and an article about it from the Wall Street Journal online. MakesMeRalph would remind the Dems to not be so giddy since the the polls are from Zogby International.

Taegan Goddard: "Kerry will take Federal funding."

Update: Campaign Desk: "Two reporters from big-shot newspapers were, to the certain envy of their peers everywhere, granted one-day backstage passes to the Bush campaign war room in Arlington, Virginia earlier this week. Today, the chosen two -- The Los Angeles Times' Matea Gold and The New York Times' Jim Rutenberg -- share with readers the fruits of their access (and flatter the Bush camp with front-page treatment)."

Update: Curious Stranger: "Senate rejects same-sex marriage amendment."

Update: Taegan Goddard: "Here are the latest state polls on the presidential race: Pennsylvania - Kerry 46%, Bush 41%, Nader 5% (Quinnipiac); South Carolina - Bush 51%, Kerry 44% (Survey USA)."

Denver November 2004 Election

Here's an in-depth article about Peter Coors, from the Rocky Mountain News [July 14, 2004, "Business background guides Coors' path to politics"].

Peter Blakes highlights a new 527 committee supporting Bob Schaffer in his column in today's Rocky Mountain News [July 14, 2004, "Blake: Coors-Schaffer heats up"]. The committee, "Colorado Conservative Voters," was set up by former U.S. Senator Bill Armstrong and is supporting Schaffer's bid.

Inititive 100 is the subject of this article from the Rocky Moutain News [July 14, 2004, "Circus clash a high ire act"]. From the article, "Proponents of the measure say the animals are treated poorly and want them kept out of Denver. The debate over the Aug. 10 ballot measure at the City and County Building came during a campaign kickoff for the Keep the Circus in Denver Committee. More than two dozen business, civic and political leaders joined officials from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus and the El Jebel Shrine Circus to tout the wholesome family and educational values of the circus and publicly throw their backing behind the fight to keep the circus in Denver." Here's the coverage from the Denver Post [July 14, 2004, "Circus-animal proposal debated"].
