2004 Presidential Transition
Ohio county officials have certified the November 2nd election results, according to the Denver Post [December 2, 2004, "Counties certify Bush won Ohio"]. From the article, "Official results from the state's 88 counties were sent Wednesday to Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. He's expected to certify the tally Saturday showing that Bush won the state."

Update: Taegan Goddard: "John Danforth, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, has resigned, according to Reuters. Danforth has only held the office since July 1, 2004, when he succeeded John Negroponte, who now serves as the U.S. ambassador to Iraq."

President Bush 'nominated Johanns to the post Thursday morning. Pending confirmation by the Senate, Johanns will succeed outgoing Secretary Ann Veneman, who announced her resignation two weeks ago.'"
