Here's a report about a call to action to improve Fountain Creek, from the Pueblo Chieftain. From the article, "A vision for Fountain Creek must be rooted in action, not just studies, a steering committee decided Friday. So the panel will recommend the Fountain Creek Vision Task Force come up with concrete proposals by mid-2007, work with the Arkansas Basin Roundtable and push for completion of the Fountain Creek Watershed Plan. 'They've been studying Fountain Creek watershed for 70 years. I've been coming to meetings myself for 25 years,' said Jane Rhodes, a landowner on the creek. 'Let's start some action.'[...]

"Some efforts are already under way, the committee learned Friday: Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments has applied for a $776,000 Environmental Protection Agency grant to move the vision process forward, said Rich Muzzy, environmental planning manager; Colorado State Parks is beginning land acquisition studies after making an initial assessment of recreation opportunities on Fountain Creek, said Tom Ready, chairman of the State Parks Board; The Arkansas Basin Roundtable is working on a matrix that will catalogue the numerous studies about Fountain Creek and the Arkansas River, said Jay Winner, vice chairman of the roundtable."
