Colorado Attorney General John Suthers likes his appointed position so much he's going to run for election next time around, according to the Rocky Mountain News [June 20, 2005, "Appointed AG to seek elected term"]. From the article, "Suthers announced his candidacy Saturday at a Sunrise Republican Women's Club meeting. ' '06 is a huge year for us,' Suthers told the group at the Colorado Springs Police Department's Falcon substation. 'The Republicans have more people term-limited than the Democrats, so we've got our work cut out for us.' The former Colorado Springs district attorney and former U.S. attorney said the governor's race is key...He said his goals will include protecting Colorado's water rights, making the Internet safer for children and increasing securities fraud enforcement."

Here's a short article about Bob Beauprez's campaign from the Rocky Mountain News [June 20, 2005, "Beauprez gubernatorial bid in first gear"]. From the article, "Beauprez hasn't formally announced yet, but between now and when the balloons actually drop, there's plenty to do to rev up for the 2006 campaign."
